STOPPOK is a singer, musician - German-speaking singer/songwriter and great guitarist. His music is an independent mixture of folk, rock, rhythm'n'blues and country. He sings with subtle humour about the adversities of everyday life and in doing so, he constantly distinguishes himself as a critical observer of his environment. What began with street music in the early 80s has led to over 20 albums, two DVDs, film and theatre music over the course of his career, which have made him famous throughout the German-speaking world and won him numerous awards (including multiple winner of the annual Liederbestenliste prize, SWR Liederpreis, German Record Critics‘ Awards, Belgian Radio's “Ehrenantenne”, GEMA German Music Authors’ Prize 2013, German Kleinkunstpreis 2015, German World Music Prize RUTH 2016, Tana Schanzara Prize 2020) and the Swiss Liederpreis - La Grande Bellezza 2021).
In his songs, Stoppok knows how to tell fundamental questions and problems of our time in often personally coloured stories, thus creating a natural connection between the private and the general. STOPPOK turns everyday language into poetry that creates images of touching directness. In the songs and in the concerts, the not at all silent observer is concerned with attitude and values. Something that our synchronised, multimedia society has largely lost in its search for quick success. The perfect rhythmic combination of language and music has always been just as important to him as the lyrics.
