Discover the ruins of the Mont Royal fortress during a winter torchlight hike.
On this circular hike, you will experience up close the exciting history of the former, massive fortress Mont Royal, which King Louis XIV built starting in 1687 with the help of his brilliant architect Vauban on the peninsula high above Traben. Already destroyed by the French in 1698, excavations on Mont Royal could only be conducted last century based on original plans from Parisian archives.
Equipped with flashlights, you will hike with our guide through the fortress ruins and can discover the remaining structural remnants of the massive walls, casemates, and vaulted cellars up close.
Please wear appropriate or sturdy footwear – participation is at your own risk.
