Discover the ruins of the Mont Royal fortress during a winter torchlight hike.
On this circular hike, you will experience up close the fascinating history of the former, massive fortress Mont Royal, which King Louis XIV built starting in 1687, on the peninsula mountain high above Traben, with the help of his brilliant architect Vauban. Already destroyed by the French in 1698, excavations could only be conducted on Mont Royal in the last century based on original plans from Parisian archives.
Equipped with flashlights, you will hike with our guide through the fortress ruins and can discover the remaining structural remnants of the massive walls, casemates, and cellars up close.
