Guided hike on the side trail "König-Johann-Runde" in Freudenburg including a pear secco, three wines (with bread and water), wild bratwurst & soup (with bread each) as well as tasting of the products from the traditional fruit orchard at "Wildling."
As part of the Moselsteig wish routes, Saar-Obermosel-Touristik is organizing a guided hike on the Moselsteig side trip "König-Johann-Runde" in Freudenburg for all pleasure and nature enthusiasts.
The 12 km long loop is named after the Count of Luxembourg, King John the Blind of Bohemia, who built a castle complex in Freudenburg in the 14th century.
The route leads through a varied landscape with many viewpoints and vistas as far as Luxembourg and France. In addition to the castle complex, which sits atop a massive sandstone cliff, highlights include the "Kollesleuker Switzerland" with its steep colorful sandstone cliffs in various shapes, the 440-meter high, protected "Eiderberg," and the Leukbach Valley with several small cascading "waterfalls" and historic mills.
The start and finish of the hike is at Andrea Bauer-Fisseni and Klaus Marx at their Herrenmühle in Kollesleuken. A pear sparkling wine made from pears from their own orchards will be offered as a welcome drink before embarking on the varied tour.
Along the way, three wines will also be served by cultural and wine ambassador Marita Geltz, who will accompany the entire hike. At the barbecue hut, a refreshment in the form of wild bratwursts will be provided before tackling the last kilometers back to the Herrenmühle and Andrea Bauer-Fisseni and Klaus Marx's "Wildling" station.
Upon arrival, the hikers will be greeted with soup and the opportunity to try many other products from the two orchard managers in a cozy atmosphere as a conclusion to the tour.
