Fort Konstantin is a place of great historical significance for Koblenz.
Experience a place of great historical significance for Koblenz and enjoy the "most beautiful view" of the Koblenz city center. Learn more about the integration of the fortress into the Prussian fortress system of Koblenz and Ehrenbreitstein as well as the clerical predecessor buildings. The history of Fort Konstantin likely dates back to the Romans. At the latest since the 12th century, there has been a monastery here, most recently used by Carthusian monks. They gave the largest district of Koblenz its name. Under Napoleon, the buildings served as an agricultural operation before Prussia constructed the current fortress as part of the Koblenz and Ehrenbreitstein fortifications. Converted into a bunker during World War II and later providing refuge for bombed-out families, the fort gradually fell into disrepair.
