Fort Konstantin is a place of great historical significance for Koblenz.
Experience a location of great historical significance for Koblenz and enjoy the "most beautiful view" of downtown Koblenz. Learn more about the incorporation of the fort into the Prussian fortress system of Koblenz and Ehrenbreitstein, as well as the clerical predecessor buildings. The history of Fort Konstantin likely dates back to the Romans. At the latest since the 12th century, there was a monastery here, last used by Carthusian monks. They named the largest district of Koblenz after it. Under Napoleon, the buildings served as an agricultural operation before Prussia built the current fort as part of the Koblenz and Ehrenbreitstein fortress. Converted into a bunker during World War II and afterwards a refuge for bombed-out families, the fort gradually fell into disrepair. It is recommended to arrive using bus lines 2 and 12, as there are only a few parking spaces available on-site.
