Open-Air Music Festival
Few people outside Cuba have mastered the art of playing the Cuban string instrument tres properly. However, Yarima Blanco, who was the first woman to graduate from the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana in 2006 with a major in tres, has earned herself a permanent place on international stages and the respect of her male tres colleagues with her artistry. Today, she is recognised as one of the best tres cubano players in the world, founded her own band in 2015 and has increasingly incorporated Cuban timba influences into her percussion as a form of salsa. Her rousing stage show with bass, acoustic guitar, congas, bongo, trumpet, tres and vocals not only fires well-known Cuban and Latin American hits into the evening sky, but also presents her own songs enriched with cha cha cha, bolero, rumba or bachata rhythms. Staying seated? Impossible with this energy!
