The old ferry house was built in 1621 By the construction of the French fortress Montroyal (1687), Ludwig XIV. , the inhabitants of the surrounding places had to deliver building material and furniture. The Frenchmen transported the timberwork of the ferry house to Montroyal by ship. After the peace of Rijeswijk (1697), France lost Lorraine and the on the right side of the Rhine river possessions.The stolen half-timbering buildings came back again. It happened that different half-timbering parts, for the ferry house don't fit each other properly.
