- Cochem
The Apolloweg Valwig with its extension into the Brauselay nature reserve (Cochem-Cond) is an experience offered by the "WeinKulturLandschaft Mosel" project.
The hiking trail offers fascinating insights into the unique unity of a landscape with warmth-loving plants and animals, rugged cliffs, vineyard terraces, the gentle plateau of the Moselle trough and the lively culture that has grown over 2000 years. In several stages, the Apolloweg leads first through the Moselle town of Valwig, then over the steep crossroad up to the “Schönen Aussicht” to the Valwigerberg district. From here it goes down through the coppice forest into the vineyards and finally back to Valwig. A refuge invites you to rest. Worth seeing: Parish church of St. Martin and pilgrimage chapel of St. Maria and Maria Magdalena, various wayside shrines and crosses, as well as Apollo butterflies and green lizards.
How to get to the Apolloweg.
You can reach the "Apolloweg" directly from Cochem via the Moselle bridge, walk a bit along the bicycle path and then turn left to the stairs, cross the street and then you will find the entrance to the Apolloweg opposite. If you want to walk from Valwig you can get there with the bus line 716a. http://www.vrminfo.de
