The beekeeping association Cochem and surroundings, in cooperation with the local community of Bruttig-Fankel, has set up a themed trail with information on beekeeping and bee products.
The course laid out on the Bruttiger Berg along the Moselle heights connection path deals with the life of bees, the special features of their social life, the development and composition of the various bee products on a compact 300m. On explanatory boards you will learn a lot of news about the honey bee and beekeeping work.
The themed path is complemented by a station with wild bee nesting aids. Here the way of life and breeding of various native wild bees and parasitic wasps can be observed. The highlight is what is known as a block hive, in which - protected by a pane of glass - a colony of bees can be observed while their lives are hidden in the tree cavity.
