Bridal Skirt Fountain

  • Bullay

With the Bullayer "Brautrock" fountain, the citizens of the community of Bullay have created a worthy monument to their large-scale wine facility "Bullayer Brautrock".

The fountain was built in 1990 by the renowned artist Scherl from Wittlich. Particularly striking is the fact that the bride is made entirely of copper. The famous large wine estate "Bullayer Brautrock" is based on a legend from long ago: To refill the count's coffers, Count Beissel pledged his vineyard to pay for the bride's outfit, including the bridal skirt, for a knight's maiden that his son was to marry. Ironically, the future father-in-law was the pledgee, furnished his daughter himself, and returned the vineyard to his son-in-law at the wedding, but not without ulterior motives, as he demanded that all proceeds from this vineyard should go to his daughter - The vineyard bore his name.
