Castle Eltz

In the romantic Elzbach valley, close to Moselkern and Treis-Karden, lies the Sleeping Beauty castle of the Mosel region, Eltz Castle. Thanks to its hidden location, the castle has been spared any destruction by war and offers visitors a picturesque sight, built on a slate rock, surrounded by the Elzbach stream and framed by wooded steep slopes. Every year on 1 April, the castle opens its castle rooms and treasure chamber to art lovers and holiday guests from all over the world. Guided tours take place daily from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm until 1 November. Many of the interior rooms retain their original furnishings and hold numerous precious objects, furniture, paintings, household effects and armour. In the treasury you can admire valuable gold and silversmith's work, jewellery, porcelain, clothing and weapons.
