Catholic Parish Church of St. Agatha

  • Bernkastel-Kues

The parish church of St Agatha was built in 1869 by Vincenz Statz from Cologne.

The parish church of St. Agatha, located in the centre of the village, was consecrated and occupied in 1867 after a construction period of 4 years. The construction of this church became necessary as the number of inhabitants and worshippers grew considerably over the course of the 19th century. Vincenz Statz built the six-bay, vaulted hall from quarry stone and chose the Neo-Gothic style for it. The six-bay vaulted hall made of quarry stone was designed in the doctrinal neo-Gothic style and the tower hall is decorated with a relief of St Agatha from 1605.
