Collis-Turm

  • Zell (Mosel)

High above the vineyards of Zell (Mosel), on a hill, one can see the tower built in 1906 from red brick.

In the same place there used to be a shelter, which became the victim of a "fire devil." For this reason, the local group Zell of the then Mosel-Hochwald-Hunsrückverein decided to build the Collis Tower. The Moseltalbahn provided the building material for the masonry. The tower, which is now clearly visible from afar, has a height of just under eight meters and carries a weather vane on its roof. The Collis Tower with its observation platform is a popular destination for hikers, who have a wonderful view of Zell and the Mosel Valley from here.
