Dorfbrunnen Heckenmünster

The village fountain was promoted together with the renovation of the old waterworks and was designed, created and installed by stonemason and sculptor Sebastian Langner. It consists of an Eifel sandstone stele with a grimace or face of a spring god holding a water tap in his mouth. The upper part of the stele is octagonal and thus reminds us of the unusual octagonal cult building, Octagon, of the source sanctuary around the sulphur spring Wallenborn. The inlays and the head of the spring are made of basalt and make reference to the volcanism of the Eifel, to which the carbonic acid springs are attributed. The well is fed from the old well rooms of the former waterworks in the neighbouring forest. The water flows from the mouth of the god of the spring through three basalt troughs.
