Starting now, visitors to the Amüseums at the waterfall can explore the former Electoral Mill from 1657 with their smartphones and the free audio tour app. The museum's new audio tour offers an extraordinary listening experience. You will be guided through the permanent exhibition, which showcases the traditional Saarburg crafts such as boatman, tanner, shoemaker, and bell founder, with the help of the audio tour. At a total of 12 stations, the exciting history comes to life. In the audio tour, former radio journalist Marco Neises guides through the museum's rooms, supplemented by interesting and curious stories and anecdotes from the Saarburg museum guide Theresia Vadrot. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the tour addresses one more special feature. Currently, the hydropower facility from 1935 in the museum's basement is being completely renovated and will soon provide power for the museum and the adjacent area. The work on the facility is expected to be completed in the fall. Starting in spring 2024, this level of the museum will also be accessible again. In the audio tour, the importance of hydropower for the city of Saarburg is highlighted. The functioning of the hydropower facility will be explained by Ewald Kölling, the chairman of the Association of Municipal Museums Saarburg. The entire museum tour lasts about 40 minutes.
