From now on, visitors to the Amüseum at the waterfall can discover the former Electoral Mill from the year 1657 with their smartphones and the free Lauschtour app. The museum's new audio tour offers an extraordinary listening experience. You will be guided through the permanent exhibition, which showcases traditional Saarburg crafts such as boatmen, tanners, cobblers, and bell founders, with the help of the Lauschtour. At a total of 12 stations, the exciting history comes alive. The former radio journalist Marco Neises leads the tour through the museum's rooms, complemented by interesting and curious stories as well as anecdotes from Saarburg museum guide Theresia Vadrot. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the tour addresses a special feature. Currently, the hydroelectric power plant from 1935 is being completely renovated in the museum's basement and will soon supply electricity to the museum and the adjacent area again. The work on the facility is expected to be completed in the autumn. Starting in spring 2024, this level of the museum will also be accessible again. The Lauschtour emphasizes the importance of hydropower for the city of Saarburg. The chairman of the City Museums Saarburg association, Ewald Kölling, explains the operation of the hydroelectric power plant. The entire museum tour lasts about 40 minutes.
