From now on, visitors to the Amüseum at the waterfall can discover the former electoral mill from 1657 with their smartphones and the free audio tour app. The museum's new audio tour offers an extraordinary listening experience.
You will be guided through the permanent exhibition, which showcases traditional Saarburg crafts such as shipbuilding, tanning, shoemaking, and bell founding, with the help of the audio tour. At a total of 12 stations, the exciting history comes to life. In the audio tour, former radio journalist Marco Neises leads through the museum's rooms, complemented by interesting and quirky stories as well as anecdotes from Saarburg museum guide Theresia Vadrot. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the tour also addresses a special feature. Currently, the hydroelectric power plant from 1935 in the basement of the museum is being completely renovated and will soon provide electricity for the museum and the adjacent area. The work on the facility is expected to be completed in the fall. Starting in spring 2024, this level of the museum will also be accessible again. The audio tour emphasizes the importance of hydropower for the city of Saarburg. The functionality of the hydroelectric power plant is explained by Ewald Kölling, the chairman of the association of municipal museums in Saarburg. The entire museum tour lasts about 40 minutes.
