- Neef
A rewarding excursion destination is the viewpoint "Eulenköpfchen" on the Petersberg above the Moselle village of Neef.
From the viewing platform, one enjoys a grand "triple Mosel view" over the entire Bremm Mosel loop with the steepest vineyard in Europe and over the wine-growing villages of Alf and St. Aldegund all the way to the Prinzenkopf in Zeller Hamm.
On clear days, seven Mosel villages can be recognized from here: Neef, Bremm, Ediger, Eller, St. Aldegund, Bullay, and Alf.
The name "Eulenköpfchen" comes from aquita=Eagle, which must have meant "Roman legion eagles." For at this current viewpoint, there was a Roman mountain fortification and a signal station from 270-405 AD.
