Guided tour of the Hackenberg Mill

  • Saarburg

Immerse yourself in the history of the over 1,000-year-old town of Saarburg and the castle complex of the same name. Walk in the footsteps of the Middle Ages through Saarburg's narrow alleyways and squares.

In the basin of the waterfall, you will find the Hackenberger Mill from the 13th/14th century. The mill complex consists of three stacked mills, whose wheels still turn today. Originally, this was a site for an oil mill, as well as a bark and grain mill. On two floors, you will gain interesting insights into the arduous craft of the medieval millers' guild. You can see the former milling room, milling passages, mill wheels, as well as historical devices and tools.

Experience the journey from grain to flour during a guided tour at the mill museum and learn more about the history of the mill at the foot of the waterfall.

Group price including admission €50.00, other languages upon request €60.00, schools €40.00, daycare centers €35.00

Duration 45 minutes (including film screening)

The maximum number of participants is 15 people.

Our tip: The museum begins with a new informative explanatory film that highlights the eventful history of the house. Visitors will not only learn interesting facts about the mill's former importance to the region but will also receive a brief insight into the fascinating operation of the facility.
