You will receive an impressive impression of Gallic-Roman temple architecture on the Metzenberg in Tawern, 200 meters away from the once important road that connected Trier with the center of the Roman Empire. You can see excavations of 7 temple buildings, of which 2 are fully reconstructed. Additionally, there are 2 entrance buildings, 4 corner buildings, a fountain, a Jupiter column, and a profane building, some of which are partially reconstructed. Here, a traveler coming from Rome saw his destination for the first time – the imperial city of Trier. In the temples, he could thank the gods with a gift or a sacrifice for a successful journey. The temple complex is freely accessible.

The temple complex is located along the G11 hiking trail. Car parking is available at the forest parking lot. From there, it is about a 15-minute walk to the temple complex. The restroom facilities at the temple complex are only open upon prior registration for group tours.
