The bunker "Villa Gartenlaube" is a pioneer bunker. With a wall thickness of 1 m and a ceiling thickness of 80 cm, the Konz bunker is a special construction. According to research by Sascha Berweiler, who established the Westwall Museum in Konz, there are only two bunkers of this construction type along the entire Westwall, both of which are located in Konz. From there, the railway and the bridges over the Saar and Mosel were monitored.
