Heilbrunnen Schweich

  • Schweich

Heiligenborn - the Schweich healing fountain There is hardly a cooler and more relaxing "corner" in the region than the Heilbrunnen, which is located northwest of Schweich on the edge of the Meulenwald. One finds there an entire complex consisting of the spring and an associated Lady Chapel in a park-like setting. On the east side of the avenue there are 14 stations of the cross leading to the spring.

The use of the healing water, which began with miracle reports about the healing power of the spring in 1602, led to a pronounced spa business in the 17th century. According to legend, the trigger was a man who was cured of his skin ailment by the spring water. The chapel and the station path were built in the 19th century after previous buildings. In 2001, the site was renovated and expanded by the Heimat- und Verkehrsverein Schweich. Even today, many people seek out the spring to bottle the 12.7 degree cold water or to refresh themselves from a strenuous hike.

Next to the healing well is a recreational area with a wetland biotope that serves as a breeding and habitat for waterfowl. A Kneipp treading pool and arm pools, which provide refreshing coolness with ice-cold spring water, and various rest and resting benches offer opportunities to relax.
