- Beilstein
Situated on the banks of the Moselle, on the impact slope of a Moselle meander, is the village of Beilstein, whose historic core area is protected as a monument zone "Ortskern Beilstein". The village developed around the year 1300 at the foot of Metternich Castle, which is situated on a mountain spur.
The boundaries of the monument zone "Ortskern Beilstein" are essentially based on the course of the historic town wall, the remains of which can still be seen in the townscape together with the former town gates and towers. Thus, the medieval layout of the village has been preserved, with the market square with the tithe house and the former parish church as its central urban focal point.
