Jesuitenplatz

  • Koblenz

Visit Jesuitenplatz in the old town–surrounded by Baroque façades and the town hall, it is a central location steeped in history and buzzing with atmosphere.

The palatial Jesuit grammar school with its towers and magnificent portals on the south side of the square was built in 1694-1701 and has housed the town hall of the city of Koblenz since 1895 (Town Hall Building I). In the south-east corner of Jesuitenplatz is the former Jesuit Church (now the City Church). It was built in 1613-17. In the centre of the square, which is surrounded by beautifully restored town houses, stands the monument to the Koblenz physiologist and anatomist Johannes Müller, which dates from 1899.
