Church “Maria Ascension” The Romanesque church tower is a witness to this church. The nave was built east of it. In 1664, the church is said to have been destroyed by a fire, only the tower remained stationary.
A makeshift building was erected with great difficulty. In 1761, Pastor Andreas Strahl initiated the construction of the current nave. In 1975, a comprehensive renovation of the church took place. The highlight of the renovation was the redesign of the altar area, carried out by the Wittlich sculptor Hanns Scherl. The motif of the Tree of Life is predominant here, harmoniously connecting in form and color with the existing Stations of the Cross group and the pictorial design of the church. In the design of the tabernacle, the presence of Christ in the altar sacrament is intentionally emphasized. At the same time, care was taken to ensure that the altar and tabernacle create a formal unity through the motif of the Tree of Life, so that the tabernacle seems to grow out of the altar. The overall church space is not disturbed by overly loaded elements. The visitor's gaze is primarily directed towards the altar area with the crucifixion group.
