Landesmuseum Koblenz

  • Koblenz

The State Museum has permanent collections documenting important aspects of the region’s technological developments as well as its economic and social history. Exhibitions on archaeology and the history of the fortress are two of the more recent additions in the newly renovated museum. There is also a very popular programme of special exhibitions.

The Landesmuseum Koblenz is located in the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. Permanent and temporary exhibitions are shown in four exhibition buildings - there is something here for every field of interest as well as for young and old. One of the focal points here is cultural and economic history, focusing on developments that changed the world from Rhineland-Palatinate. In the House of Pleasure, viticulture is highlighted as an important branch of the state's economy, and the subject of photography is also given attention in a permanent exhibition. There, an overview of the history of the medium from its beginnings to the present day will be shown. In cooperation with the State Archaeology Department, a permanent exhibition in the House of Archaeology shows the traces of human life on the Middle Rhine and Moselle since prehistory and early history.
