With the free “Lauschtour” app, you can explore the charming town of Wittlich virtually. The app can be downloaded free of charge using the QR code at selected locations in the town, e.g. at the entrance to the tourist information office in the Old Town Hall. Let's go! The listening tour starts at the historic market square in the heart of the city. As the tour is guided via GPS points, it is of course also possible to start at other points. On the market square, interesting facts and anecdotes about the Säubrennerkirmes and other traditions of the Säubrennerstadt are explained alongside the striking historical buildings. The next stop is the Old Town Hall. Here, the windows with the motifs of the Apocalyptic Horsemen by Georg Meistermann are explained. The friendly voice then guides the user of the listening tour on to Pariser Platz, St. Mark's Church, Karrstraße and up the Schlossberg to Schlossplatz. Everywhere there are locations where interesting facts about houses, monuments, sculptures and the history of the town of Wittlich are explained, pictures are shown and a corresponding background noise enlivens the scene. In addition to the city guide, there are explanations by Elke Marx-Zepp from Wittlich, the head of the cultural office of the city of Wittlich, Elke Scheid, the managing director of the Emil Frank Institute René Richtscheid, Werner Zepp from Wittlich, the winegrower Thomas Losen and the board members of the “Förderverein Wittlicher Kulturgüter e.V.” Ortwin Eich and Petra Korff. From the castle square, the tour leads to the Scherlsäule and then to the “Türmchen” - the Wittlicher HisTörchen. The tour then continues through the cemetery and through the small alleyway, the “Krischelspeedschi” with its wonderful view of the vineyards, to the synagogue. The last stop is the Losen-Bockstanz winery. Here you will find interesting facts about Wittlich wine. The virtual tour through the old town is around 1.6 kilometers long and takes about an hour.
