LBG - agricultural cooperative Enkirch eG

  • Enkirch

Since its foundation in 1947, the Enkirch agricultural cooperative has farmed communal land and the arable land of its members.

The reason for founding the cooperative in the post-war period was to secure the supply of basic foodstuffs for the population of Enkirch. Today, the last cooperative of its kind still in existence in the Rhineland, it is a certified environmentally friendly production company that is active in seed propagation as well as in the production of malting barley, rapeseed, spelt and other types of grain that are sold on the market. A constant change in the production programme and the constant modernisation of working and production methods guaranteed the survival of the cooperative even in difficult times for agriculture. At present, LBG Enkirch cultivates areas of about 200 ha and thus makes an important contribution to the preservation of the cultural landscape in the Enkirch district.
