DLR Mosel: Life storm moments put in scene Winners of the photo challenge #meinlebensturmmoment are determined Last year, the Dienstleistungszentrum Ländlicher Raum (DLR) Mosel called on people to capture nature experiences at one of the more than 100 life towers in the Mosel region in a picture. From the photos submitted, seven motifs have now been selected as prize winners. They rise high up, offer individual apartments on several floors and very different inhabitants retreats, feeding habitats or reproduction sites.
By now, far more than 100 life towers stand for the Moselle region's commitment to more biodiversity in the vineyards. They also invite us humans to observe our native wildlife and offer wonderful nature experiences. Wall lizards sun themselves on the warm slate stones on the first floor. Above, colorful beetles hide among the thick bark of old branches. Further up, wild bees build their nesting tubes in bamboo stalks or holes drilled in wood, undisturbed by the careful onlooker. Many people responded to DLR Mosel's call and captured their personal life storm moments in impressive pictures.
The winner of the main prize, Georg Bohn, has captured an exemplary tower of life against the backdrop of the Zell vineyards bathed in evening light. The motifs of the other winners are as diverse as life towers and Moselle vineyards should be. Klaus Breitkreutz relies on the special location in the Lehmen vineyard terraces for his shot. In Ediger-Eller, Sigrid Friderich's tower of life wears a "hat" made from an old barrel bottom and decorated with lush wall peppers. Katharina Loersch from Lieser looked closely and depicted a ladybug on slate as a detail. The tower of life in half-timbered facade is a real eye-catcher not only for Bärbel Serwazi from Mesenich. Marielle Gehlen from Kesten, in turn, shows that not only animals, but also we humans can feel really comfortable in the vicinity of a tower of life. The special prize for the most impressive animal portrait goes to Julia Schneiders from Roxheim with a pink-violet grasshopper.
