The former “Borromäusbücherei” is the Catholic library of St. Agatha parish in Wehlen holiday village on the Moselle. Generations of booklovers have satisfied their thirst for good books at this place. In spite of great demand, it was often the case that, for various reasons, it was impossible for the dedicated helpers to maintain their voluntary work at the library. At the end of the nineties, the library fell into a deep sleep, from which it was aroused on October 30, 2011 by some committed book lovers. Despite numerous prophecies of doom, they had set themselves the goal of “smuggling the books into people's living rooms", as famous author Anna Enquist has it.
Their efforts were marked by formidable success, which rejoices and motivates them to devote themselves indefatigably and with great passion to the library work. They lay particular emphasis on topicality and quality of the book range. Apart from the "daily business", the library team organizes book exhibitions, readings, school class excursions and flea markets for books.
Today, St. Agatha Wehlen library has about 2,500 media. Among these are:
* Contemporary and classic picture books, children's books and youth books
* "Hearty" and exciting novels, crime novels and non-fiction books for adults
* A wide range of CDs and DVDs for kids
* Interesting audiobooks and DVDs for adults
The rental fee is € 0.20 per medium for a rental period of 3 weeks - extensions are possible at any time. The library is located in Bernkastel-Wehlen, Uferallee 7 (next to the parsonage).
