Awarded by the Ministry of Culture of Rhineland-Palatinate as Museum of the Month March 2024

The former bell foundry Mabilon is the heart of today's Culture Foundry, a socio-cultural center in the tri-border region of Germany, France, and Luxembourg.

Located below the castle and outside the city walls, Urbanus Mabilon founded a foundry in 1770, establishing a family tradition that lasted nearly three centuries. Bells were cast in Saarburg that found their way out into the world. Today, the bell foundry is owned by the city and preserved as a museum, cultural, and meeting place. The museum follows in the footsteps of Urbanus Mabilon, showcasing the creation of a bell from the first to the last step in the original workshops.
