- Neumagen-Dhron
After the destruction of the Roman settlement Noviomagus-Treverorum by Germanic tribes in about 275 AD, a fort was built in Constantinian times (early 4th century AD). The 112 x 131 metres large fortification with 13 round towers was located in a strategically important place at the intersection point of an important mooring for Moselle ships and the arterial road from Mainz across the Hunsrück to Trier.
