The old ferry house was built in 1621 and is adorned with rich carvings.
During the construction of the French fortification Montroyal (1687), under Louis XIV, the residents of the surrounding towns were conscripted for forced labor and had to supply building materials and furniture. The French took advantage of the dismantlability of the half-timbered houses and also transported the timber of the ferry house by ship to Montroyal. After the signing of the Treaty of Rijsswijk (1697), France lost Lorraine and its possessions on the right bank of the Rhine. The looted half-timbered buildings returned. Since in most cases the timbers were mixed up and exchanged, it happened that different half-timbered parts, as with the Pünderich ferry house, did not fit together properly.
