Open-Air-Museum

  • Konz

Recognized by the Ministry of Culture of Rhineland-Palatinate as Museum of the Month for August 2024. Embark on an exciting journey of discovery and experience how people lived here around 200 years ago.

At the Roscheider Hof Open-Air Museum, you embark on an exciting journey through time and learn how the people living by the Saar and Moselle have lived and worked over the past 200 years.

A total of 4000 square meters of ethnological exhibitions, from viticulture to dentistry, can be visited in the historical exhibition building of the estate and in the forest museum. The large tin figure museum and the toy worlds make not only children's hearts beat faster. In the building groups of the outdoor area, you can walk through houses and farms that are furnished and equipped with household items according to their use. Enjoy the fragrance of the roses in the rose garden and the scent of medicinal and aromatic plants in the adjacent herb garden.

Tip:

Rally for Children:

So that the little visitors don’t get bored, adventure booklets can be purchased at the cash register. For those who prefer a modern approach, an app with a rally can be downloaded to their own smartphone. Printed guides and a smartphone app are also available for adults.

Accessibility:

The majority of the exhibition in the exhibition building is accessible without steps (including via elevator), while the museum villages are located in steep and uneven terrain, but can be reached via a new barrier-free path. There are steps in front of and inside the houses, as well as limited movement areas in the rooms.  Accessible toilet available, restaurant and beer garden on ground level. Certified offering according to "Reisen für Alle". Detailed information on accessibility is available.

The Fascination of Things:

Explore the museum with the new museum app THE FASCINATION OF THINGS. The app tells stories about the exhibits. Sometimes it lets the objects speak for themselves; in other cases, people from not so long ago share what they used these things for. Visitors can now gain entertaining and informative new insights into the collections of the Roscheider Hof using their mobile phones.
