Petersbergkapelle

  • Neef

On the Petersberg there is a romantic chapel with an old mountain cemetery.

Finds of sealed clay bricks suggest that there was a mountain sanctuary on the site of the chapel even during Roman times.
The choir of the chapel dates back to the 12th/13th century. The largest part of the current building was constructed in the 16th/17th century.
The ornate altar piece in the choir area is a late Renaissance work with cartilage ornamentation (mid 17th century).
