Pommern is one of the oldest wine villages on the Moselle. Historical findings show that the Celts settled here more than 2000 years ago. The Gallo-Roman temple Martberg is located about 180 m above the Moselle. The sanctuary was dedicated to the god Lenus Mars, to whose worship Martberg owes its name. In the heyday of this cult complex (around 200 AD), numerous temple buildings stood here. The Romans also cultivated viticulture and grew tropical fruits. The wine village of Pomerania takes its name from them: POMARIA - the fruit garden.Even today, viticulture characterises the village. When visiting Pommern, you should take the opportunity to stop at the winegrowers' and taste their wines and sparkling wines. Holidays in the village - experience wine and culture - you can do that and much more in Pomerania.
