Satffelter Hof

  • Kröv
Staffelter Hof is a former vineyard of the monastery of Stavelot/Stablo (in present-day Belgium). The abbey received the estate in 862 as a gift from King Lothar II in order to solve the shortage of wine at that time. The estate was built on a former Roman settlement and over the years it expanded into a large wine farm with agriculture. After the expropriation of all abbeys by the French, the entire estate became the private property of the former Hofmann von Kröv, whose descendants still live on the farm today and run it as a winery and guesthouse.
