The lock in Enkirch is located on the Moselle at km 102.97 Data on the lock: VHF channel 18 Fall height at MW 7.00 m Year of construction 1964 Length 175.47 m Width 12 m
In the 50s and 60s, the Moselle between Thionville (Diedenhofen) and Koblenz was expanded into a major shipping route, thus connecting the Lorraine industrial area with the Rhine and Ruhr. This was achieved by means of barrages, which damm the river accordingly and generate electricity. Large locks 172 m long and 12 m wide allow cargo ships and even push convoys to get on and off. Interested visitors are happy to watch the mighty ships rise and fall.
