Electoral Palace Zell (1307-1543)
The late-Gotic electoral residence castle is classified as one of the most beautiful profane building of baroque on the Mosel. It built between 1530 and 1536 from the elector Richard von Greiffenklau which come from Trier before the city walls. With the construction of the castle the elector thanks the citizen for their especially bravery and stableness at the defense of Trier against attacking force Franz von Sickingen.
By city-like enlargement locates the castle with his Renaissance annex now in the nearness of the intrinsically center of the lieu. Stone statues of the time of the rococo and a wrought-iron grille from conspicious bonniness counts to the anomaly of the castle of Zell.
Today, Zell Castle is home to an Italian restaurant and hotel.
