This beautiful church with its well-preserved Baroque interior is one of the most atmospheric and solemn sacred buildings. The oldest part of the current complex is the striking Romanesque tower, which originally belonged to St Andrew's Chapel, which was later demolished. This branch church of the parish of Wintrich was first mentioned in 1455, but the tower is considerably older. Dating from the 11th century, it bears strong similarities to the west façade of St Peter's Cathedral in Trier and is not only one of the most important relics of Romanesque architecture in Rhineland-Palatinate, but also, together with the ground floor of the Kleinich church tower, the oldest Christian building in the Bernkastel-Wittlich district. During their visit to the church, the management team of the pastoral area were able to see for themselves that it has an extremely powerful triple chime!
