- Konz
The town of Konz was able to purchase a wheelchair bicycle that can be borrowed free of charge by tourists and interested locals through Lebenshilfe Trier-Saarburg e.V.. This means that everyone in our beautiful holiday region can now enjoy a bike tour in the spirit of inclusion and wheelchair users can experience the landscape from a different perspective. The front part of the bicycle can be detached (e.g. for a rest or sightseeing on the way) and then be used as a wheelchair to move around. E.g. during an eavesdropping tour on the barrier-free circular route around the Karthaus monastery or a tour of the Roscheider Hof open-air museum with an augmented reality app, which also allows people with walking disabilities virtual access to the houses on the steep and uneven terrain. If the wheelchair bike is not currently being rented, it can and should also be used by the residents of the Lebenshilfe residential homes/employees. This ensures that the wheelchair bike can be used continuously, even when there is less tourist demand (e.g. out of season).
Due to the confluence of the Saar and Moselle rivers, the town of Konz is an ideal starting point for extensive cycling tours. Along the rivers, guests will find not only a well-developed, but above all flat network of cycle paths. Predestined, therefore, for tours with anyone who normally cannot easily enjoy a bike tour. Renting a wheelchair bike from Lebenshilfe Trier-Saarburg e.V. is uncomplicated - and above all free of charge! The operation of the bicycle is intuitive for the rider and, thanks to the electric motor, an extremely comfortable ride not only for the passenger. In this way, even longer distances than with simple walks on the cycle path can be covered comfortably.
