Time with your family in Traben-Trarbach!

Wine fame with style and serenity.

And yet fascinating for families. Fascinating spirituality and serenity are conveyed by the Buddha Museum, unique in Europe, with views of the Mosel. But most of the time, kids don't want peace and quiet, they want action. They can have it. In the Moseltherme with its fun-focused toddler area, all generations will find exactly what they’re looking for: some will enjoy splashing around and playing, while others will enjoy floating along or getting a massage.

Families can get close to the water in a more natural way with a canoe trip on the Mosel. The boats are available for hire and after a brief introduction, it’s great to paddle at eye level with swans, past the green banks and steep vineyards. Guided tours are available as well as self-directed tours.

In the Wildbad district, however, families with youngsters with strong nerves can also work up a good sweat... not because of the temperature, but thanks to the adrenaline kick. For two to a maximum of seven people, there are various ways to get goose bumps in the Escape Room Mosel: in the horror room on the run from a serial killer, robbing a bank or as Sherlock Holmes with detective flair.

On the other side of the Mosel from Traben-Trarbach, pure excitement beckons in a completely different way, namely amidst nature and between trees. The Adventure Forest Mont Royal is a climbing park that offers everything all you need for a great high ropes course, from beginners to professionals. Every member of the family will find a suitable course. Not far from there, you will navigate your own way not to the heights but to the depths – to the ruins of the Mont Royal fortress, built into the rocks in the 17th century by Vauban, the famous architect of the French Emperor Louis XIV – with room for 12,000 soldiers and 3,000 horses.

The family-friendly outdoor fun in the open air pool in the nearby wine village of Kröv is a very civilised affair: with a toddlers' pool, adventure fountains and a giant slide. And if the sunbathing lawn there hasn't stroked the soles of your feet enough, head for the barefoot path in Enkirch. Sand, mud, forest floor, logs, grass or rock... it's a sensual adventure to explore the circular path through nature without socks and shoes and feel alive. Children in particular will have fun and enjoy the little extra freedom.
