Our winery: Thomas Höreth, the founder and namesake of the winery, received his viticultural education mainly in Burgundy.
The winemaker Thomas Höreth comes from an old wine merchant family in Bayreuth and was taught the love of wine by his grandfather at an early age. He learned his trade in the cellars of the Domaine Comte de Vogüé and with the winegrower George Roumier and brought his ideas of excellent wines to the Moselle. After studying viticulture in Geisenheim, he bought vineyards on the Moselle starting in 1968 and taught our vineyard people and cellar masters this love of good wine and this pursuit of precision craftsmanship. With a strictly quality-oriented and environmentally friendly work, we aim since the foundation at the ecological and sustainable production of outstanding wines. Without our wonderful staff of many years, our success would be unimaginable and our wine would not be as delicious as it is.
Our vineyards
The Moselle is Germany's oldest wine-growing region. The steep slopes of the river valleys have been densely planted with vines for centuries. The vines of our winery thrive in Winningen, Dieblich, Lehmen, Kobern-Gondorf and Niederfell. On slate, on sandy loam and on loess loam. We grow Riesling, White and Grey Burgundy, Chardonnay, Early and Late Burgundy, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon on 5 hectares. GET TO KNOW OUR WINES and discover your personal favorite wine from Höreth. You will taste five wines from our current range, white, Blanc de Noir and red, and learn a lot of interesting facts about our work in the vineyard on the Moselle and our wine cellar in Winningen, the history of the Old Mill and the enjoyment of wine. In addition, we serve oven-fresh, crusty mill bread and white bread. We are also happy to offer the presentation in English.
