This hiking trail leads right through the forest and across human history high above the Moselle valley. An easy hike with depth.

More than 3,000 years ago, the heights around Bruttig-Fankel were already settled, and people have left many traces. The approximately 2.5 km long archaeological hiking trail (not a circular route) reveals these with information boards. It leads through the forest where once an old road of the Celts and Romans ran. Burial mound fields from various eras line the path. Here, people who lived at the beginning of the Iron Age were already buried, that is about 1,000 years BC. Other burial mounds contain finds indicating Celtic settlement. A piece of the old Roman road testifies to the infrastructure of the Roman Empire. A medieval hollow way and an earthwork date from later times. Hard to believe that this quiet hiking trail was once bustling. Horse-drawn carriages and riders would have had to make way, and you would certainly have met some merchants and soldiers. Those times are long gone. So take a deep breath and enjoy nature!
