Saarburg lies in an arc of the Saar River, nestled between vineyards and forests. The castle of the same name towers high above the Saar and the old town with its colourful fishermen's and boatmen's houses. Count Siegfried of Luxembourg had it built in 964 as one of the oldest and most beautiful hilltop castles in the West. Saarburg's picturesque winding streets with their Mediterranean flair and historic squares invite you to stroll and linger. The pulsating centre is the Buttermarkt. The view of the pretty houses lined up next to each other and the small stream bridges over the Leukbach is also called "Saarburg's Little Venice". A magnet for visitors is the 20-metre-high waterfall that plunges over steep rocks into the depths in the middle of the town. "Culture to the power of three" is offered by the municipal museums Hackenberger Mühle, Amüseum am Wasserfall and the bell foundry in the old town. The originally restored sites offer exciting insights into the town's history, as well as into centuries-old crafts and traditions.

You will get lots of information about Saarburg's Little Venice, the waterfall, the old town and the castle complex.
