Where steam locomotives once snorted, you now cycle through the unique volcanic landscape of the Eifel to the Moselle valley.

You start in Daun and ride first on the Maare-Mosel Cycle Path to Wittlich (approx. 43 km). The cycle path on an old railroad line connects the volcanic nature of the Eifel with the Mediterranean flair of the Moselle region. You can glide down effortlessly and be distracted by several bike adventure loops to the Maars, to a lava bomb, to a bell foundry, to monasteries, tobacco farmers or to the charming old town of Wittlich. Again and again, the Lieser River crosses your path, it goes over viaducts and through tunnels.

In Wittlich you have the choice: Either you take the train back to Cochem or you extend your tour via the "Radweg Wittlicher Senke" to Schweich.

On another 30 kilometers you cycle through the slightly hilly landscape of the Wittlicher Senke. The Wittlicher Senke is the northeastern continuation of the Trier Valley, which is bordered to the northwest by the Meulenwald forest and to the southeast by the Mosel mountains. Due to this protected location, tobacco can even be grown here. The bike path leads you past small villages like Dreis, Salmtal, Esch or Hetzerath until you finally reach the town of Schweich. From here, the train takes you back to your starting point in Cochem.

Along the way, numerous rest stops invite you to catch your breath and pause for a moment.
