The Mosel Cycle Path accompanies the Moselle in all its curves and loops and a wide variety of landscapes, mostly directly near the shore. Today's tour takes you along the Middle Moselle from Neumagen-Dhron to Trier.
Before you start your bike tour in Neumagen-Dhron, it's worth taking a detour to the "Archaeological Trail", which leads you through Germany's oldest wine village. Especially worth seeing is the replica of the world-famous wine ship - a tomb from the 2nd century. Back on the bike path, you ride upstream on the right side of the Moselle toward Trier. Passing Trittenheim (on the opposite side of the river), you will first reach the wine village of Leiwen. Continue via Köwerich, Thörnich and Detzem to Mehring, where a short detour to the Roman Villa Rustica is worthwhile. Via Riol and Longuich, where you can visit the partially reconstructed Roman Villa Urbana, the Mosel Cycle Path takes you to Schweich. On the way, numerous wine taverns and wine farms invite you to make a stop. In Schweich you cross the Moselle and follow the bike path on the left side of the river through the Trier valley to the Roman city of Trier.
