A circular hike through Kondelwald where you can discover the diverse flora and fauna.
Well-marked circular hiking trail No. 4 through Kondelwald where you can discover the extremely diverse flora and fauna. Here you will find the most varied plants, from arum to wild orchids. Different tree stands such as deciduous and fir forests, broom growth and fern fronds to old knotted oaks. Mouflon, red deer, small game and wild boar are native to Kondelwald, as well as a variety of forest birds which you can identify by their calls and knocking sounds. Forest fruits such as wild strawberries, blackberries, mushrooms, rose hips and tree fruits can be found according to the season.
General information
Directions
The starting point is the public parking lot at the Springiersbach monastery church.
From here, follow a farm track past the Springiersbach hiking hut towards Kondelwald. At the bridge over the Springiersbach stream (on the left), take a well-developed forest path. At the end of the route, turn right onto the paved forest road and follow the signs for No. 4.
Here you will experience the diverse flora and fauna of our Kondelwald with views of Bengel and the Alftal valley. Birdsong and animal tracks will accompany you along the way. The return path leads around the Hommerichskopf with views of Bengel, pastures, and orchard meadows. Continue to the Pestkreuz, keep right there. At the Jacobs Cross you can take a rest. A wonderful view of Springiersbach and its monastery church invites you to linger.
At the next fork in the path, keep left to reach the Springiersbach farm. From here, you can already see the bell tower of the monastery church.
At the end of the route, turn left back towards Springiersbach and the starting point, the parking lot at the monastery church.

Please stay on the paths to avoid disturbing the flora and fauna of Kondelwald.
Equipment
Sturdy footwear and a packed lunch are recommended.
Tip
Visit the monastery church with its baroque ceiling paintings and the choir stalls in the altar area. A visit to the monastery shop is also recommended.
