From Konz through the Konzer Tälchen (Niedermennig, Obermennig, Krettnach) and Wiltingen to Saarburg. In Saarburg, it is worth stopping to visit the medieval old town, the waterfall and the castle complex. Via Mannebach and the Mannebachtal valley to Tawern and from there back to Konz.

General information

Directions

The tour starts at the tourist information centre in Konz. You cycle up to the heights and through the Konz districts and wine villages of Niedermennig, Obermennig and Oberemmel. Passing the oil mill in Niedermennig, you will experience the Konz valley in all its wine-rich beauty. Further down towards Wiltingen, you reach the Wiltinger Saarbogen nature reserve.

The flat Saar cycle path takes you to the small town of Saarburg with its many cultural highlights. We recommend a detour to the waterfall in the centre of the old town and a visit to the castle complex.

From Saarburg, the tour continues uphill on the L 135 past the Birds of Prey Park to Mannebach. Cycle past the Riedhof farm through the idyllic and shady Mannebach valley to Tawern. Here you should definitely plan a detour to the reconstructed Roman temple complex.

From Tawern, the route continues to Könen and over the Saar bridge back to your starting point in Konz.

You will find e-bike charging stations along the way in:

  • Konz at the railway station in Bahnhofstraße (Bike & Ride Box) and at Brunoplatz/Brunostraße 24 in the Karthaus district.
  • Saarburg at the boat landing stage, at Boemundhof and at the Cityparkplatz/Haus der Vereine car park.
