The approx. 2.5 km long circular trail leads from the Moselle village of Graach via the goat enclosure up to the Graacher Schäferei district, through the vineyards and back to Graach.
The circular walk "Eselspädchen" in the wine village of Graach is particularly suitable for families with children. The wildlife is the main reason for this. There are no donkeys on this trail, but there are goats, and lots of them! The animals can be experienced at close quarters, as access to the enclosure is open - thanks to a revolving door. In addition, the trail offers beautiful and wide views over the Moselle cultural landscape, on clear days even as far as the Eifel. Elaborately designed towers of life, which serve as "homes" for many insects and creepy-crawlies, accompany you on the way to affable goats whose enclosure you cross. Along the way, there are various information boards with all kinds of interesting facts about the "Living Moselle Vineyards" and, of course, how the Graach people got their donkeys. An exciting, varied tour, also ideal for children!
General information
Directions
The circular route is signposted from the Tourist Information (opposite the church) in Graach. Via the "Hauptstraße" and "Weingartenstraße" we reach the edge of the village. There the ascent begins in a sunken path lined with old slate walls. At the end of the hollow way, we branch off to the goat enclosure. A serpentine path leads up through the enclosure. At the level of the goat pen, we leave the enclosure again and follow a narrow path to the houses of the Graach sheep farm. On the "Panoramastraße" we turn right to the fire station. Opposite the fire station, the village square invites you to take a break. Right next to the square, we make our way back downhill into the vineyards.
