The approx. 5 kilometer long circular hike in Ürzig offers many stations for playing and being active. The hike leads along the Moselsteig and through the Ürzig spice garden.
Old village core, rustic forest paths, broad Mosel views, and steep vineyards characterize this hiking trail. On the 5.4 km long family hiking trail through and around Ürzig, there are many opportunities to romp and explore the nature playfully. The mascot of Ürzig, a small redstart bird, shows the way. The circular hike runs largely on the Moselsteig, which has been awarded as Germany's most beautiful hiking trail. Moreover, the new themed trail also becomes very flowery! This is ensured by the section through the Ürzig rose and spice garden, which is laid out on a former vineyard. Especially from this rock, high above the town of Ürzig, the view of the Mosel and the wine and cultural landscape is particularly impressive. The path is not barrier-free and should only be walked with sturdy footwear. Depending on the age of the children and the individual time spent at the stations, the path takes between 1.5 and 2.5 hours.
General information
Directions
Start and finish is the Ürzig Mosel riverbank. Over "Molitorstraße", "Rathausplatz" and "Altenberg" it goes steeply uphill to a hollow path. Red earth piles up on the right and left at the roadside. Then steps and a bridge lead to the first attraction, a small "witch's hut". Here you can take a break and admire the lovingly furnished enchanted hut. Now we are also on a section of the "Moselsteig" trail and at the next two forks in the road the first play stations invite children to join in. At a forest telephone they can make calls and large rings on the trees invite for a throwing game. The route continues further uphill, but then the climb is accomplished. Shortly afterwards comes the forest slide, which invites sliding on the bottom or on the stomach! Then it continues to the forest edge and past the tennis court. On the "Ürziger Höhe" playground, children can romp freely! New is the "book tower". Then you turn back, back into the forest and shortly afterwards hike again on a short section of the "Moselsteig". Now the Rotschwänzchen route leads to the Mosel valley edge and offers a view of the Hochmosel bridge! It continues into the vineyards, past the geology garden to the upper access of the spice and rose garden. There, at a rest area, children can try a sound game. In the spice and rose garden, the various scents can then be sniffed. Now all senses are sharpened!
