General information

Directions

Along the romantic Baybach stream, over the heights of the Burgener Forest with wide views of the villages of the Hunsrück and back to Burgen with breathtaking views into the Mosel valley and Bischofstein castle, the local community of Burgen has built the themed path "Forellenweg Burgen – Water – Soil – Air".

Safety Guidelines

For your own safety and to protect flora and fauna please always stay on the marked paths. The hiking trail has some steep, difficult and slippery sections in rainy or winter weather. Therefore surefootedness and good fitness are essential.

NOTE:

We strive to announce all closures caused by forest work or hunting parties on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where hiking trails are closed and we may not have been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a trail closure or detour, please observe the instructions for your own safety.

Danger situations:

If an emergency occurs, quick help is needed. And even though mobile phones can send GPS signals, the classic rescue points are often the fastest. These are located at places easily accessible to rescue vehicles. Remember the points with green signs and a white cross. In case of emergency, return there and provide the number on the sign when you call for help. That way rescue workers will know where to find you.

Equipment

- Sturdy and comfortable footwear.

- Clothing adapted to the weather, if necessary in layers.

- Backpack with provisions: Enough to drink and, if necessary, food, as there are not everywhere places to eat or shops open.

- Depending on the weather, sun or rain protection, as well as insect/tick protection.

Tip

Along the romantic Baybach stream, over the heights of the Burgener Forest with wide views of the villages of the Hunsrück and back to Burgen with breathtaking views into the Mosel valley and Bischofstein castle, the local community of Burgen has built the themed path "Forellenweg Burgen – Water – Soil – Air".

Although most paths are easy to walk, sturdy footwear is recommended. This is especially true for the narrow path along the Baybach stream.
